MABUHAY PHILIPPINES FESTIVAL ARTS WEEK
Arts Week showcases art by Filipino Canadian artists from OCAD University. Their work will be featured throughout the week, celebrating the creativity and artistic voices of the Filipino community. Selected pieces will also be available for purchase during Thursday’s social event, giving guests the opportunity to support and connect with the artists behind the work.
Meryenda Mixer: An intimate fireside-style conversation with a renowned Filipino artist, sharing stories from their creative journey, life experiences, and inspirations while guests enjoy light refreshments and meaningful dialogue.
Mabuhay Social: A special evening gathering where sponsors, artists, and invited guests come together to connect, celebrate Filipino creativity, and get an exciting preview of the upcoming Mabuhay Philippines Festival.
Sine Institute 48 Hour Film Challenge: A thrilling showcase of creativity as finalist films from the 48-hour challenge are screened, culminating in the announcement of award-winning filmmakers and the celebration of emerging Filipino Canadian talent.
Organizer
The Philippine Independence Day Council (“PIDC”) is a non-profit umbrella organization of hundreds of Filipino-Canadian provincial, regional, professional, cultural and social organizations. PIDC is mainly tasked with the celebration of Philippine Independence Day with numerous activities throughout the year that bring together the third largest minority group in Canada.
PIDC began as a committee whose chair was elected annually by representatives of various Filipino-Canadian associations. To ensure smooth transition and provide continuity in its activities, PIDC was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1997.
PIDC is also a member of the Canadian Multicultural Council of Asians in Ontario (“CMC”) and Festivals and Events Ontario (“FEO”).
