The Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) was honored to attend the Filipino Film Caravan, hosted by the SinĂ© Film Festival at The SINE Institute in Toronto. This remarkable event celebrated the artistry and talent of Filipino filmmakers, showcasing a rich lineup of films that highlighted the Philippines’ vibrant culture, heritage, and storytelling tradition.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Liberal MP Rechie Valdez, the first Filipina Member of Parliament in Canada, alongside key community leaders such as Michael Masangkay, Ryan Orlanda (of Pinoy Vibes World), Rechelle Everden of AMP Studios, BK Jimenez, Rosary Escano of TFC, Francis Rementilla, Agnes Miranda, and PIDC President Tom Tan. Their presence underscored the importance of supporting Filipino cinema and its role in fostering cultural pride and unity within the community.
The evening provided a unique platform for filmmakers and artists to connect with their audiences, while also strengthening the bonds within the Filipino-Canadian community. PIDC was proud to be part of this inspiring celebration, which not only showcased incredible talent but also reinforced the power of storytelling in preserving and promoting Filipino heritage.
A special thank you to Raymond Santos for beautifully capturing the highlights of this event through his photography.
