Celebrating Agnes Passaporte Miranda: A Trailblazing Asian-Canadian Leader

On October 8th, 2024, the Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) hosted a surprise celebration for one of the most successful Asian-Canadian women in Canada—Agnes Passaporte Miranda—on her 79th birthday. The event, held at the Rembrandt Banquet Hall, brought together family, friends, and community leaders to honor her incredible achievements and lifelong contributions to the Filipino-Canadian community.

The celebration was filled with warmth, including video greetings from her family and celebrities from the Philippines, such as Piolo Pascual, Joey Albert, Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandez, Coco Martin, famed fashion designer Rene Salud, and many more. These heartfelt messages highlighted the deep respect and admiration Agnes has earned over the years, both in Canada and the Philippines.

Prominent community leaders such as Bk Jimenez, Danny Orbillo, Leonor Abad, Rose Ami, Peyton Garcia, Michael Masangkay, Josie De Leon, Ryan Orlanda, Coco Martini, Chyrell and Rodney Ronquillo, Rechelle Everden of AMP Studios, Joy D’oust, Gizele Mirasol, Dong Sabanal and many other community leaders were in attendance, sharing fond memories and personal tributes to her impact and influence.

Agnes Miranda, a former PIDC President, is celebrated not only for her leadership but for her role as a trailblazer among Asian-Canadian women.
